Neighbourhood and village design statements

Some areas have neighbourhood or design statements which you will need to take into account when submitting a planning application. This is a definitive list of all the Neighbourhood and village design statements. Any new local planning statements are created as part of the Neighbourhood Planning process.

The six key aims of a village or neighbourhood design statement are:

• enabling communities to analyse and define the value of their local environment
• acting as a tool for assessing the local character of an area
• assisting us in steering future development to respond to and respect that character
• guiding smaller changes (permitted development)
• prompting the scope for local environmental improvements and supporting community initiatives
• being used by us as a material consideration in planning matters
