The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is a charge which can be levied by local authorities on new development in their area.
It is an important tool for local authorities to use to help them deliver the infrastructure needed to support development in their area.
The money is split into two separate funds, as agreed by the council’s Executive board:

For the financial year 2023/24 onwards, any local authority that has received developer contributions (section 106 planning obligations or CIL) must publish online an infrastructure funding statement by the 31 December each year thereafter.
