Find out who can request CCTV footage and what to do if you think there should be public space CCTV in a new area.
We do not release CCTV footage to the public. If the police are investigating a crime, they can request the CCTV directly from us.
If the police are not investigating the incident, insurance companies and solicitors should contact us on your behalf. They will need to pay a fee for the footage.
You can request CCTV footage of yourself. There are some limitations explained on the GOV.UK request CCTV footage of yourself page.

We usually keep CCTV footage for 31 days. To request footage, email DPFOI@leeds.gov.uk.
We do not release the exact location of our CCTV cameras. This is because criminals could use this information to target areas where they know there are no cameras. We're exempt from freedom of information requests on the location of our cameras under section 31 of the Freedom of Information Act .
If your area is experiencing crime or antisocial behaviour please speak to your local Neighbourhood Policing Team who can assess any potential need for CCTV.
